Legislation for equality and diversity

Legislation requires CWDC to make a number of proactive steps to end discrimination. This body of law has been built up over a number of years.

To ensure compliance with the laws CWDC have developed equality practice by creating a bank of equality polices in relation to the acts of Parliament. The following is not a comprehensive list but is illustrative of the equality framework within which CWDC operates.

  • The Equal Pay Act (EPA) 1970 (and as amended)
  • The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (SDA) (and as amended)
  • The Race Relations Act (RRA) 1976 (and as amended)
  • The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 (and as amended)
  • The Employment Rights Act 1996 (and as amended by the Employment Relations Act 1999)
  • The Sex Discrimination 1999 (Gender Reassignment) Regulations
  • The Employment Act 2002
