Who is part of LDSS?
The LDSS family of work includes
- Education Welfare Officers and those working to support attendance
- Connexions Personal Advisers and those supporting young people
- Learning Mentors and those working in similar roles
The "LDSS family of work" is child or young person centered. Staff work together to identify needs early, deliver coordinated packages of support, and help to secure better outcomes for children, young people and their families.
The LDSS family is part of CWDC's national responsibility for developing minimum standards of practice, national training and support. CWDC works in partnership with lead organisations and workers to do this.

Practice standards
The National Occupational Standards for Learning, Development and Support Services (NOS LDSS) provide minimum standards of practice for this work. The standards draw from nationally agreed functional maps which specifically describe the different roles covered.
As a member of Skills for Care & Development (SfC&D), CWDC are undertaking an incremental review of the Learning, Development and Support Services (LDSS) National Occupational Standards (NOS). More information and details of how you can become involved can be found on the LDSS NOS page.
