Welcome to our social care section
Social care is all about helping children and young people to live their lives to the full, by working with them, their families and carers towards independence and keeping them safe and protected from harm.
This might mean offering practical or emotional support to overcome difficult situations or finding somewhere else for a child or young person to live if necessary.
The social care workforce can only achieve these aims by building strong relationships with the young people and families they work with and by working together to solve problems and overcome difficulties.
We are working with our partners to develop a trained and trusted social care workforce for the 21st century, who will work alongside carers and volunteers to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.
Tell us what you think : events in the regions & online questionnaires
Your feedback is very important to us. In January and February of 2009, we will be visiting all the regions within England and asking people working in the social care field about the following projects:
- the Children's Social Care Professional Development Framework ;
- the Professional Standards for Residential Child Care Workers; and
- the implementation of the Training, Support and Development Standards for Foster Carers.
Please register to attend one of the events or to find out more information.
** January '09 update ** Online questionnaires now live
If you are unable to attend any of our events but would still like to tell us what you think, or you are attending but would like to share your views further, you can take part in one or both of our online questionnaires. Questionnaires are now live and will be running until the first week of February 2009.
CWDC is currently working on our software to ensure greater accessibility to our online communications. In the mean time, if you experience accessibility issues in completing the online questionnaires, please contact Mathew Watt or Beverley Wilson on 0113 390 7768 for assistance or an alternative Word version of the form.
Questionnaire one: asks about the Professional Standards for Residential Child Care Workers and the Children's Social Care Professional Development Framework.
Questionnaire two: is the Implementation of the Training, Support and Development (TSD) Standards for Foster Carers and the Children's Social Care Professional Development Framework.
